Abstract
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that begins in early childhood and can occur in adulthood. Psychotherapy and complementary treatment methods are used in the treatment of ADHD. Auditory psychophonology (IPF), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and interactive metronome (IM) are used as complementary treatment methods in the treatment of ADHD. This study aimed to investigate the effect of the Neurosound device, based on the IPF theory, on attention and perception. For this purpose, a listening attitude survey test program was developed and the operating parameters of the device were determined. A total of 48 people participated in the study: 41 people (27 boys, 14 girls) between the ages of 7 and 23 diagnosed with ADHD and 7 people between the ages of 8 and 15 diagnosed with Dyslexia (6 boys, 1 girl). MOXO d-CPT test was applied to 48 different participants before and after the Neurosound Device was applied. MOXO d-CPT test results of 41 participants diagnosed with ADHD and 7 participants diagnosed with Dyslexia were analyzed for timing, attention, hyperactivity and impulsivity indices. According to the analysis of Moxo d-CPT test results, the index with the most improvement in people diagnosed with ADHD is the timing index, which was observed to improve by 1.84 points, from -2.82 points to -0.98 points. According to the analysis of Moxo d-CPT test results, the least improved index in people diagnosed with ADHD is the timing index, which was observed to improve by 1.052 points, from -1.802 points to -0.75 points.
According to the analysis of Moxo d-CPT test results, the most improved index in people diagnosed with Dyslexia is the impulsivity index, which was observed to improve by 0.731 points, from 0.82 points to 0.089 points. According to the analysis of Moxo d-CPT test results, the index with the least improvement in people diagnosed with Dyslexia is the hyperactivity index, which decreased from -0.902 points to -0.82 points, with a total improvement of 0.082 points. Findings obtained from both the Listening Attitude Survey Test program and the MOXO d-CPT test showed that the Neurosound device is an aid to the treatment of individuals with both dyslexia and ADHD. However, it was observed that the Listening Attitude Survey Test program results and MOXO d-CPT test results were compatible with each other. As a result, it is evaluated that the Listening Attitude Survey Test program can be used as an alternative to the MOXO d-CPT test.
